Smithfield 's Chicken 'n -b-q

My family has been fans for a long time. We always get the Dark Chicken Plate Dark Chicken BBQ Combo. The Dark Chicken Plate still includes a leg thigh, two sides hush puppies. For years Dark Chicken BBQ Combo included a chicken leg thigh with BBQ, two sides hush puppies. To our disappointment, it appears the chicken thigh has been replaced with a much smaller mid-wing piece of chicken, which is half the size has half the meat of the long served chicken thigh. In a time where prices continue to increase, cutting back on the amount of meat may not be a good business move by Smithfield's Management.

I'd never eaten at Smithfield's before today, and based on the experience we had, we won't be trying it again. My husband's chicken tenders were greasy to the point of being soggy, and the breading was almost flavorless. I tried a BBQ sandwich, and took two bites I live 10 minutes from a variety of good BBQ restaurants in Lexington, and I can name at least three of them that do pulled pork better. It was stringey, bland, and I couldn't taste the cole slaw on the sandwich at all. My side of baked beans probably had more meat in it than beans, and just didn't taste that great. The only good thing about the meal was the fries but that means that we basically paid $24 for some French fries, because that was the only thing in our entire order that we actually ate.

Was thinking brisket when I blindly stopped by. Pulled pork was the bbq. kid had the bbq sandwich combo and I went with the large bbq meal. The vinegar pulled pork was dry and salty. Baked beans was solid. Cole slaw ok. Stew was so so. price was cheap though so didn't feel too bad. Maybe I'll try the chicken or tenders if I try again.

This is one of the few genuinely five star restaurant I have ever eaten at. It is fantastic food every time, clean and wonderful atmosphere, and quality heart felt customer service with a smile. The people here really care about the food you are getting. There's a kind of enthusiasm that cannot be matched from people who care about their customers. I give this particular Smithfield's my highest recommendation.

As far as BBQ/ chicken goes. Don't write home about it. But it's very consistent. Always fresh. Always tasty. Always a great stop. Every time I've been the staff has been delightful, the restaurant itself is unique and the bathrooms were clean. About 15 mins away from the new Toyota facility. Will continue to eat here!
