We had dinner this evening at Field Cellar. The service was friendly and competent. The atmosphere was quiet and easy going. The wine by the glass was good and reasonably priced. The sour dough bread with blueberry skin and honey butter was warm and crispy The meal was spectacular. We split two entrées. The crispy rabbit and the blistered tomatoes and cheese filled squash blossoms. This was not a lot of food but both plates were beautiful, very well prepared and delicious. We finished with the cheesecake and lemon cake. We met the chef to thank him for the great meal We have been to many high end restaurants in the US and Europe. The meal st Field Cellar was as good. Certainly, if you go for fine dining, don’t miss this place.
We were returning to the Thornewood Inn for yet another wonderful stay and booked a dinner reservation in their new restaurant, Field Cellar. The chef, Jim Massey, is creative and imaginative! We were especially interested in the rabbit, which was delicious, as was every course and choice that we ordered. We definitely recommend having the experience of staying at the lovely Thornewood Inn and partaking of their wonderful cuisine while being entertained by a piano player and looking onto the gardens in the back. We shall return!
We have driven by the Inn in which this restaurant is located quite often and never knew there was a restaurant there. The arrival of a new chef name change and a bit of local talk and we tried it. We were pleased if not amazed went back with some friends who share our glee. Go and enjoy creative food, well presented, and served by caring folks
This place is such a gem loved our meal and the ambiance. Watched the sunset over the mountains while listening to some wonderful piano playing. Food is creative and is a perfect farm to table experience. Highly recommend!
