Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

We enjoyed a delicious country breakfast before heading over to Grapevine Mills next door. The country fried steak was tasty and satisfying. Despite the usual weekend wait at breakfast spots, we were able to browse the general store up front while waiting for our table. The store had a variety of fun toys, cute decorations, and plenty of Christmas and Halloween decorations to enjoy.

I ordered Catfish, greens and Mac and cheese. The fish was okay, wasn’t fried hard enough for me. Greens and macaroni was good, but they let the green juice get in my macaroni it was very watery. Atmosphere was ok, waiter was very slow to take my carry out order. I personally would try another store in a different area.

I did a take out order and ordered a meal and a loaded potato. On arrival the order was packed, and the potato was missing. On the the itemized tag where the potaot was listed was the words, Out Of. I asked about it and they said they had none. I asked them to refund the charge to ma card. They said they could not. I asked them to substitute it and they gave me a cup of mashed potaotes. The cup of mashed potato is a free side, where the loaded potato is about $4. I got ripped off. They said they could do nothing. Next time I will not choose the Cracker Barrel cahin if this is how you operate.

The way they seated our group of 6 at two tables pushed together against a wall seemed odd and awkward, but we made it work. The biscuits were a let down; thin and hard. Our main entrées, however, were delicious. We ordered the catfish, chicken n dumplings, trout, and breakfast. Our server was kind and helpful, and she was patient with us staying to visit each other longer. Overall, it was a good experience because of her and the meals we ordered.Parking: Parking was plentiful all around the restaurant. We were all able to park close to the entry.

BAD FOOD, WORSE SERVICEWe went on a Saturday afternoon, so the wait was understandably long. Initially, I thought our dismissive waitress was overwhelmed by tables, but nope. She was just a really bad waitress, who delivered cold and undercooked food. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, and two stables were out of toilet paper. Only one sink worked. It was just not a good place to stop, and Cracker Barrels are usually reliable. This one is not. Keep driving! It's Grapevine- there's much better fare up the road.
