Hostess went to sit us at a huge table for 6-8. It wasn't busy and so I asked nicely if we could seat in the corner at a table for two. She said at first no because there were two guys studying over there and they were trying to keep it quiet. Really? I could not believe she said that. Then she decided to sit us over there anyway where we had originally asked. This absolute floored us! Anyway we did have a good meal and nice waitress so that made up for it abit. I guess the next time we go in I will carry some books so I can be treated special too.
Nice aesthetics , typical franchise type sports bar inside, with outside patio. Fish and Chips: Looked good on the plate, the batter turned out to be tasteless and on the underside of the fish the batter was soaked with oil. Fries were bland and lacked any flavor. Red Thai Curry Shrimp: Had a slight bit of heat which was nice, but again lacked flavour. Tasted like it came out of a package, don't believe the kitchen is actually used to cook in, but instead to nuke and deep fry.Pretty typical of Grande Prairie restaurant cuisine, Freezer to heat to plate is the local speciality. If traveling through this community, I suggest you pack a lunch!
There isn't much separating these cookie cutter chain restaurants. State & Main is pretty much what you'd expect - nothing really stands out, both good and bad.
Was here for a business lunch as it's where my client likes to go. I like restaurants that make it hard to choose a meal because of all the choices. There were about 6 meals that I could easily have ordered (if not more) but I can only eat one at a time.I ended up having the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl which I really enjoyed. The meal was fresh and hot and the flavor profile was awesome. Definitely a keeper. My client had the Bang Bang Shrimp which I was able to sneak a taste of and was impressed with these little morsels as well. The daily soup which was a cream of broccoli and cheddar was one that you'd think was standard fare but was also done really well. The service was good as well and being one of the nicest spring days we were able to enjoy the patio.
