However, we were both let down by our meals. My boyfriend ordered the single crab cake Benedict, but there was no indication that it contained imitation crab. It was more like warm crab salad than the crab cake he had been looking forward to, and the egg, which was supposed to be over easy, was not runny at all. I chose an omelette, and it turned out to be quite greasy. The house potato dish was served cold and lacked flavor. We are happy to spend money on good food, but unfortunately, this experience did not meet our expectations. If you visit, at least you can enjoy a nice view of the lake.
Considering the restaurant's name, I probably should have opted for pie. I visited for breakfast and ended up wishing I had saved those calories for donuts, which I eventually walked down the street to enjoy. The service was decent, but the food left much to be desired. The pancakes were undercooked (reminding me of my middle school cafeteria days), the eggs were overdone, the maple sausage tasted like it was from a factory, and the rest of the meal was quite forgettable.
Raspberry Rhubarb! The service was outstanding; they went above and beyond, even breaking some rules to make our experience special!
Fantastic vista, warm and welcoming service, outstanding cuisine, and delicious homemade pies.
Amazing food! We make sure to stop here every time we visit Grand Marais.
