フィードバックを提供するI tried the tendon and 1-pound tonkatsu set. It's not quite like the soba you'd find at a soba shop, but you can still smell the soba, and the tempura comes in a generous portion for 1300 yen. If you can't finish it all, they will pack it up for you to take home. The 1-pound tonkatsu is made from Zao brand pork, Japan X pork, and takes about 30 minutes to fry. The meat is tender, with a light and sweet taste to the fat, and it is a thick cut at 2cm. The breading is thick and firm. The potato salad and fried egg sides are also nice touches.
On our way to Togatta Onsen as usual, we stopped by a restaurant that had caught our attention with its duck soba noodles. This time, we decided to give it a try. The tantanmen and miso tantanmen were full of vegetables and quite filling. It was clear that they used an abundance of locally sourced vegetables, as the dishes were packed with them. The tempura, available as a separate dish, was a generous portion, with a focus on vegetables and mountain vegetables, making it a healthy option. The sweet potato garlic udon was also delicious, but the real standout dishes were the tonkatsu and katsu curry, as well as the grilled meat set meal. These meat dishes were substantial and satisfying, made with high-quality branded pork. It just goes to show that you can't judge a restaurant solely by its appearance.
While heading towards the Zao Echo Line from Shiraito IC, I had duck soba noodles. The broth here has a perfect balance of duck and grilled leeks, and it was very delicious. I have tried duck soba noodles at many places before, but this place definitely ranks in my top 3. I would love to visit here again whenever I am nearby.
