My husband and I have been several times to this friendly Indian which seems to be open every day. I have enjoyed the vegetable curry amongst other dishes. The decor is aging and the tablecloths were grubby from prior diners which put me off the place - it is not particularly cheap.
This place is dodgy- They didn't honour the specials they advertised online and overcharged. The service is rude- customer service is certainly not their forte!
As I eluded we have been eating at Star of India for more than 10 years and the food has always been fantastic!! My kids love it as much as the adults!Highlights include the vegetable pakoras, chicken tikka, cheese balls, butter chicken, beef masala, Kashmiri beef, mushroom vegetable curry and the cauliflower vege curry. I really haven't ever had a bad dish but just like any restaurant some are just better than others.Take away servings are also generous and larger than dine in.However! Don't go here if you expect a fine dining experience. Their service and decor is comically Indian and often unorganised with the owner answering phones, handing out take away and food to the delivery driver and also trying to juggle table service. She often forgets simple things like drinks and needs reminding but once reminded is always accommodating and friendly.Decor is old and far from flash and the place could really do with some vibe. Some soft music, anything!!! They used to have an awesome waiter here who I think has since retired and since then the place lacks organisation and vibe. If that bothers you just grab the take away option. But when the food arrives that is all forgotten as it really is some of the best Indian food in Sydney!! Recommend it to anyone after a great feed who isn't overly fussed with atmosphere of better still creates their own with family and friends.BYO
The worst Indian restaurant by a long shot. Food was very ordinary and service was brusque and slow. Go to the local supermarket and get a frozen Indian meal because it will taste better! I don't like giving bad reviews but this is our 3rd try at this one (it has no competition in the lower mountains as it is run by the same family that also ran their ex-Springwood restaurant).
