It is mostly Asian fusion food, focusing on dumplings, and everything on the menu is worth getting (we only wish we could get everything every time!) The chimichanga dish is the best on the menu and the restaurant ensures to keep it there because of its popularity! In the past we've had the incredible green tea noodle salad, the baos, and a huge array of dumplings including white chocolate and peanut butter dumplings. The menu turn over is high here which makes for an exciting and interesting meal every time. The drinks are always great as well with a very unique cocktail menu and a great wine list. The staff are equally incredible and attentive. We've had long chats with so many of them and feel like a valued local every time we go. My family and I love trying new places, but we always come back to Charlie Dumpling knowing that we'll have a lovely time and amazing food!
We highly recommend Charlie Dumplings Staff are extremely friendly and the Asian fused dishes are deliciously fresh with a twist . Must give it a go .
We took in a double bill at Chapel off Chapel which finished about 6pm.Decided to have a meal with some people we bumped in to at the show so wandered round to Charlie Dumplings on High St.It wasn't full, but there seemed to be a pretty constant flow of people. The wait staff were very helpful. We ordered wine and beer from a pretty reasonless selection. The meals ordered were ideal for sharing. Started with a plate of endgame beans while we chose our sharing plates. The set up seemed to suit sharing with 6 dumplings to an order, and we had quite a selection along with an order of spring rolls which were delicious. $50 a head including two bottles of wine and two beers seemed pretty reasonable. Well worth a visit. .
I was a bit disappointed of my experience of the quaint little dumpling establishment. With hopes of delicious gourmet dumplings and a great overall night, my expectations were immediately crushed by the slow service of staff, and a particularly passive aggressive waiter. The dumplings themselves were pretty average and at a pretty big price too. Probably wont go back again anytime soon.
A small group of us dropped in for an early dinner, having chosen the restaurant for its convenience to our ultimate location. This is no ordinary dumpling place, with tasty and original offerings, and delicious salads, washed down on a hot evening with icy cold draught beer. Can life get any better? Well it can...it was good value too! Only caveat is that one cannot book.
