I normally wouldn't write a review for an experience as bland as this, but Google Maps suggested it to me while I was in Gettysburg. I regret not going somewhere else instead. The issue is not so much the quality, which is low but passable. The real problem is the lack of uniqueness in this restaurant, clearly designed by a team of specialists focused on creating a generic dining experience for the masses. It's an acceptable choice if you're staying at the hotel and don't have other options, but I would not recommend it otherwise. Vegetarian options are limited to a disappointing vegan burger, a few salads, and an afterthought.
Gettysburg was our last stop on our 2 week summer road trip. We’ve eaten at restaurants with 5 star reviews on our trip but honestly the food we ordered and took back to our room from here was some of the best. The burger was thick and cooked perfectly! Fish tacos great flavor and my son loved his wings. Wait staff was very helpful and packed my to-go great with all the fixings.
The hostess acts like she is scared of everyone. I said I would take three waters, motioning to myself and my two children. She asked the table if we wanted all water then and my mother-in-law answered yes. She only brought the three for myself and the kids because she said I had only asked for three. Well yeah, I was ordering for myself and my children... Not the other adult at the table who she also asked? We didn't even see a server anywhere in the restaurant for 10 mins (like not even at a nearby table) and had to go ask for her. The server didn't write our order down, which is a pet peeve of mine because now I have to trust you to remember our order. As if to prove a point, she forgot part of the order and had to come back and ask. When she brought the food, we asked for condiments. Waited five minutes and then got up and asked for them from the hostess because our food was getting cold. The eggs, which my mother-in-law asked for ketchup for (gross, I know) were already cold to begin with. I definitely would recommend going somewhere else if you are staying here. It looks nice but it is like it's ran by confused children.
Started out in the pub last night as we had a communication barrier with the host at the restaurant; she could not understand that we were asking to dine in the restaurant. So we just walked into the pub. After 10 mins, a very over worked (and only worker…server, bartender and busgirl) came and got our drink order. A few mins later she made a very loud announcement from the bar to the effect that if we all felt we were not getting served properly we could just go to the restaurant…which we did. No one at the podium so we walked in and were seated by a gentleman who appeared to be a manager. We were never asked for a drink order, only one of the two apps came out (20 mins later), and food was mediocre at best. The server at the other tables kept talking about how she is the only server for the next few days. Evidently we were served by the manager. When the gentleman came over when he surmised we were done with our meal, he placed the check on our table and walked away. No “would you care for code or dessert?” Waters were never refilled, we were never asked how the meal was or if we wanted a beverage…nothing. Now let’s put this into perspective. We are at National Car show where the entire hotel is booked and you mean to tell me there is one person running the entire pub and one server and a manager running the restaurant? Seriously? Being in the catering business, I’d have no business if this is the way we treated our guests. Totally unacceptable. Do not recommend. Better service and food at Ruby Tuesdays!
I was staying at the Wyndham for Creature Feature Weekend and was a vendor. I arrived for breakfast at 9:15 to grab a bite to eat before going to vend for the long day (its a buffet). I was told ti was a 2-5 minute wait. Other people who arrived after me were sat before me. I waited 20 minutes before I had to cancel my name because I had to be in the vending when it opened for the attendees. I hate being lied too. I could have driven someplace and come back by the time I canceled my name. I won't be back.
