I enjoyed my meal in a beautifully decorated and relaxing dining area, watching patrons come and go while listening to their glowing reviews of the food. I can’t wait to return for breakfast! It’s interesting to note that this restaurant started as a food truck and has now set up in the Starbucks building under the Commissioner. They focus on healthy, fresh offerings, and I plan to stop by every time I'm in the area. The owner is extremely kind, and the staff is friendly and helpful, always ready to answer questions about the menu and provide recommendations. I heard they’re adding red beans and rice to the menu next week, which I’m looking forward to trying!
My wife and I dined there on Sunday the 25th. She ordered the Gumbo, while I had the Jambalaya. I was really impressed—it was the best Jambalaya I've had in years! It had a pleasant warmth that built gradually, just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. We returned on Tuesday and tried the crawfish etouffee, which was a completely different style than what I'm accustomed to, but it was excellently prepared once again.
I live the road from an award-winning Puerto Rican restaurant in NYC and have traveled to New Orleans. Here's the REAL DEAL. One of the best meals I had in a LONG time. Traditional dishes with a unique twist, complex aromas, perfectly seasoned. The delicious food alone deserves 5 stars. But add to this impeccable customer service and a super friendly staff, this place beats it out of the park. Protect her. Tell all your friends. Support excellent food and excellent service.
Food is great. I have been a big fan of gumbo since I had the chance of eating it once while living down in TX. Due to not eating seafood it's not so easy to find a place that embraces the idea of chicken gumbo. This place definitely has good food. The staff tries to build a personal relationship with their customers as well and even the master chef would come out to greet us. My one critique of the place would be that the servings do not seem to always equal. The first time I had it I was pretty well satisfied, second time I left feeling hungry still. I think if there is a little more consistency this would definitely be a weekly spot for me.
The food is freshly cooked and the owners are amazing and truly care about making great food and showing southern hospitality! The duck breast was divine! The wings are outstanding. My wife had the shrimp and grits and said it was best she's had! Customers for life!
