Buzz's Roost - Georgetown

Traditional, southern waterfront, seafood, dive. Had the grouper tacos, and there was more grouper than taco ,outstanding. The tortillas were perfectly cooked, unlike most places where they just grab them out of the bag. The homemade onion rings were great not a fan of thick cut onion rings which these were not. Great atmosphere for kids to play some old school inexpensive games like skee ball. Only major complaint was that I could not order fried oysters. They did have five or six items on the menu that I was very excited about.

I dined indoors, and the atmosphere was decent. We ordered shrimp tacos and a cheeseburger. Unfortunately, the chips were stale, the shrimp was small and lacked the blackened flavor I expected. The burger was passable, but the fries were quite good. Our server was friendly, but not very attentive. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant could be improved; the napkin holder looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in a while. The men's restroom had an unpleasant odor and a broken vanity. I was hoping for a much better experience.

We had an amazing day on the Lighthouse Shell Island Tour with Cap 'n Rod's Lowcountry Boat Tours. Our hosts suggested we explore the dinner options in Georgetown instead of heading back to Myrtle Beach for a meal. In hindsight, we should have asked for specific recommendations. After the tour, we strolled along the boardwalk and were drawn to the menu at Buzz's Roost. We were seated quickly and placed our orders right away, but unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. It seemed like Buzz's was mostly a local spot, and we felt like out-of-place tourists. The prices were quite high, and if you decide to go, be sure to inquire about additional charges for substitutions. Combined with poorly prepared food and below-par service, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

The service and food were pleasant, but they had run out of several menu items.

Andrew was our top notch server and made an amazing recommendation of getting the “ category 4 “ ! It was delicious and perfect for 4 !!!!
