We have enjoyed many fine dinners at the Inn’s restaurant BLUE. We especially love the pre-dinner cocktail out on the porch overlooking the inlet with ocean waves breaking out on the point. It’s a very special place! Very special decor, delicious food, delightful owners and a fantastic experience.
Grey Havens Inn is an architectural treasure, an in-tact three story shingle-style luxury hotel built in 1904 by local-boy made good Walter Reid. It sits on a bluff situated in Georgetown and faces the ocean, islands, and inlets of Midcoast Maine with its turrets flanking each side and a massive wrap-around front porch. The Inn is magical with woodwork everywhere, high ceilings, an incredible river stone fireplace in the main sitting room, and a full dining room wrapped with windows and a bar where guests gather for morning breakfast and intimate dinners. The sounds of the ocean waves and tidal flow, the cool ocean air, and expansive post-card coastal views take you to a special place. The inn-keepers, Ali Carlos, are very friendly, accommodating, and performing a great service to us all by preserving this gem. The morning-breakfast is first-rate with a wide-range of freshly prepared offerings. In our three-day stay, we were greeted with a delicious egg casserole, a bread pudding coffee cake, oat meal, fresh fruit, in-house yummy granola, hard-boiled eggs, an airy cinnamon-sugar donut hole, unlimited freshly brewed coffee, and much more. We stayed in one of the rooms with a turret (the Five-Islands room) on the third floor with windows facing in multiple directions and great cross-ventilation and highly recommend it. Given the price of the Grey Havens Inn relative to generic luxury hotels, this Inn is an incredible value. We would return in a heart beat.
Basic rooms .. the area s great loaded with historic...
Just minutes from Reid State Park and with an amazing oceanside porch, this Inn is a gem. We were so happy to stay for a special night at the end of season and enjoy delicious fare at Blue, the restaurant within the Inn. Our room (Five Islands) had an amazing view and was clean and well kept. I rated it 4/5 only because it was small that wasn't a problem given the lovely common areas inside and outside of the Inn. We recommend one of the turret rooms like ours the views of the ocean and nearby islands are amazing! The innkeepers and staff are both professional and gracious they were wonderful hosts.
