We tried the New Shalimar for a Wednesday night meal with friends.

Perhaps alarm bells should have rung when upon arrival the head waiter rolled his eyes as he pulled tables together to seat our party (3 mums and 6 children aged 9 - 13). However, we sat down and proceeded to order drinks including a carafe of tap water. No tap water available as 'it wasn't very nice'. Bottle of Evian 6 Euros. Then we noticed a carafe of tap water on the opposite table and decided to ask again - another roll of eyes and 15 minutes later the carafe finally arrived. We waited 20 minutes for the food to arrive - my son's burger was no where to be seen. We asked the waitress. 'I know, it's coming!' was the reply. Another 5 mins, no meal. Another request. It was obvious they had forgotten his order, but there was no apology, just a couldn't-care-less attitude. The burger finally arrived when most of us had almost finished our food. Again no apology. Even worse, seeing that most of us, except my son, had finished, and so started clearing away plates - while my son is only half way through his meal. Incredibly rude behaviour. We declined desserts and were immediately presented with the bill - WHILE MY SON WAS STILL EATING THANKS TO THEIR MISTAKE. I have never been to a restaurant and been treated so appallingly. We may have been unlucky, but there is absolutely no excuse for rudeness. I'd avoid it - there are much better restaurants in Port Cogolin including Le Gallon, where the food and friendly service far outweigh L'Olivier, and the Pizzeria, which again served great food with a smile.
