J T Basque Dining Room - Gardnerville

I have driven past this place hundreds and hundreds of times. We finally had the chance to go here with some friends. The cocktails were crafted very well and the food was delicious. You will not leave here hungry or unsatisfied. The bartenders and servers were all amazing!!

Have always loved the family style dining available at Basque restaurants. J T Basque Bar and Dining does not disappoint. The interior is a history lesson of the Carson Valley. Quite rustic and historical. I loved it. The service was top notch. If we had a question, it was quickly answered. The server checked with us often and was very friendly. The food is fantastic. Today we had a plate lunch. The steak sandwich is to die for. The spaghetti and meatballs special was serviceable.

This was one of the coolest restaurants I’ve visited recently. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the menu featured authentic dishes along with an impressive bar selection. The staff were outstanding, and the owner was incredibly nice. I would definitely dine here again the next time we’re in town.

The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was unique and had a nostalgic charm. However, the food left much to be desired. The salad consisted of just lettuce leaves with oil and vinegar. The soup was overly salty, and the rice, chicken, and beans all had a similar flavor. The semi-curly fries were quite greasy. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

We have been enjoying our annual visits to this restaurant for quite some time, despite recent interruptions from the fire and COVID. The experience here is more about hearty, family-style meals rather than fine dining. Each visit, the service has been excellent.
