Pizzeria Catullo - GARDA

All pizzas can be Gluten free. Its marked in the menu. No other options marked on the menu. No info from staff on other options. Not sure if there is a seperate kitchen for celiacs.

Just popped in for a quick lunch and although they score quite low on current trip advisor scores we thought let’s give it a go as everywhere was mad busy and very few tables free. The waiter was really nice and attentive. Always wanting to help. The other staff were good too, if a few of the younger ones looked a bit miserable-probably because it was so busy and hot! Food was great. Pizzas, pasta and Omelettes-good sized portions and we couldn’t fault it. So, don’t look at the position on trip David it and give it a go. We thought it was better than average.

Nice view, on the port, the food is average, not Italy best choice… Got the fungi pizza, got it with canned mushrooms…pasta mediocre as well.

We wanted just a glass of wine close to the lake unfortunately we made the mistake of choosing this place. We sat down at one of the many available tables and tried to get the attention of the young, male waiter, but he kept ignoring us. After a few minutes, as a last attempt, my boyfriend tried from a table’s distance to ask the waiter for two specific glasses of wine, to which the waiter just turned his back to us. In the end we gave up on ordering and decided to find another place instead. When we are about 20 meters away from the restaurant, we hear the waiter scream and yell after us. He comes running and literally orders us to return to the table, because he was now going to serve the wine. He is making quite a scene in the middle of the street and it is very uncomfortable. We ask him to calm down multiple times and we also try to explain multiple times why we left. If we had understood that he had registered or even heard our order, we would of course not have left. He will not listen and starts to threaten my boyfriend and even seems eager to hit him! This waiter is completely out of control and the situation feels very unsafe and uncomfortable. In an attempt to calm him down, we decide to go back with him to the table and pay for two glasses of wine, plus 30% extra as a tip. He is still not happy. He makes the two glasses of wine and kinda angrily smashes them into the table. Since the situation is very weird and uncomfortable, we quickly drink the wine and get up to leave again. Just to avoid any further scenes in the middle of the street, we wait to leave until this waiter passes by us, to which I ask him “sir, is it okay if we leave now?” and he angrily responds “yes, LEAVE!” I am just left completely speechless by this waiter’s behavior. This is not a normal customer service experience in Italy at all, a waiter that is treating customers like that and even threatening them?? I will not recommend this place to anyone!!

This would be the first time in all the restaurants we did in Northern Italy that I didn’t finish my food. First, they forgot our drinks and they arrived together with the food (computer problem, sure). If a table remains empty for say 20 min. you do a check up, right? The grilled salmon was filled with fish bones I could not eat it. My partner shared some of his pizza with me, and even that was mediocre. The restaurant is half full, so there’s no reason to get bad service. We’re not coming back.
