Gruta Cafe - Funchal

Very tasty food. I ordered the Picado with octopus and Picado with beef, Gruta style. Also, Bolo do Caco, which is amazing. The portions and hugeee, and tasty. The ocopus is soft, a lot and very fresh. The beef is soft and with lots of sides.

Good food at reasonable prices. Wine can be a little pricey. Good service even at busy Carnival night.

Me and my partner ate here for lunch after visiting the CR7 Museum and were very satisfied!! The traditional Madeiran cuisine was great and the Bolo do Caco (Garlic Bread) is a must! The food was delicious and the portions were huge and great value for money. The waiting staff were very good and the young male waiter had great customer service and banter! Would 100% recommend if you are around the Funchal promenade.

Limited menu for vegetarians and service wasn’t great. Had to wait ages for bill and eventually gave up and went to cash point and paid it there. Overall it struck us as being a bit pretentious.
