フィードバックを提供するThis is a fantastic restaurant located in Baybrook Mall. We visited for the second time on a bustling Saturday night, and everything was excellent. Our server performed wonderfully, and the support staff was also impressive. The live band playing Sinatra added a nice touch to the atmosphere.
I ordered a bourbon old fashioned and a bowl of seafood gumbo (as shown in the photo). The gumbo was exactly what I had hoped for, bursting with flavor and freshness, featuring hearty sausage, perfectly cooked shrimp, and generous bits of crabmeat throughout. For the old fashioned, I chose Milam Greene Rye and was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and story behind this local woman-owned distillery, which prompted me to try some more of their bourbon. I sampled an ounce each of the Castle Hill Series and Single Barrel (see photos). The Castle Hill was honestly the best bourbon I’ve ever tasted, rich in cherry notes and exceptionally smooth for its 55 proof. The single barrel had a strong banana aroma and would have paired wonderfully with my bananas foster if I had saved it for dessert. Speaking of dessert (shown in the photo), it was heavenly, and the kitchen was able to make it gluten-free for me. (They even have a dedicated gluten-free menu that's much more interesting than just boring salads! See photo.) The bartender, James, was very knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations. He presented me with the most extensive bourbon list I’ve ever seen, including options for creating custom flight tastings. He also let me sample some other bourbons. I can't wait to explore this menu further on my upcoming visits! I should also mention that the other patrons were friendly, the restrooms were spotless, and I never felt out of place despite my casual attire, which isn’t typically how I dress for self-care days, even at 38. The atmosphere feels very welcoming, as if it’s a come-as-you-are kind of place, though I can imagine some guests might choose to dress up for their visit.
I absolutely love this place, but I've just discovered that their happy hour leaves a lot to be desired, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. My cousins wanted to visit for happy hour, but it was rather disappointing. The drinks are only a dollar off, and the food discounts are only between $2 and $3. In my opinion, it's not worth making the drive for happy hour. However, the food is outstanding—so I'd recommend visiting at regular times instead. I really wish the happy hour was better!
A new place on the map. The Rouxpour. If you don't like spicy this isn't the place for you. the gumbo with chicken and sausage is a nose watering spice but delicious it does have more juice then food. Thr red bean and rice is well balanced but also had a kick of heart burn brewing. My daughter got the mac and cheese it was creamy cheesy and not over powering. She ate the beans and rice I at the mac lol. For desert we ate cheese cake. The creme burle was not as expected it was not like a custard more like a watery puddling. But it is a beautiful experience. But not a place to bring babies due to the loud drinking customers.
Great experience especially for Cajun Cusine. The ambience of the place is great to celebrate special occasion, hangout with friends or colleagues. Food was great. If you are gumbo lover this is the place to go to. Staff is great and knowledgeable. Overall a great evening with friends at this place.
