Pepe's Mexican - Fox Valley

Enjoyed the half-price margaritas! I took my friend out for birthday drinks at Pepe's at 1pm. The mango margarita was great! The waitress was really polite and didn't bother us about only getting drinks.

The food was a bit bland for Mexican dishes. The carne asada was blackened when I specifically requested the waitress NOT to blacken the piece of meat. I asked for medium well, not blackened. Well, I got a very chard black piece of carne asada, which was bitter from the heat. It is obvious that there is no desire to please the paying client due to the extreme lack of conveying the customers' wishes to the cook who never has to face the eating customers. The sides were flat tasting with little imagination on how to flavor them so that the customer believes the food was somewhat authentic Mexican verses serving direct from the commercial containers. This Pepe's need to get out the recipes and follow them to ensure that the dishes taste authentic. Rice was dry and served luke warm. Refried beans were almost warm and tasteless. Carne was black, chard, and uncooked inside. This location needs help immediately.
