Forte dei marmi is an expensive beach resort in the toskana. the prices are in the regular high and were pushed even higher by wealthy Russians. we were in the excellent una hotel and wanted to try out on site and taste some restaurants. the una hotel is... about 20 minutes walk from the beach and so there are not many local restaurants to choose from. a few minutes to walk on the road, right at the good but very expensive ristorante madeo, we found a street cafe with just a few tables outside a little more out. the caffe sells fresh mushrooms, various meats, wein, beer, cannelloni, bsagne and seemed popular among natives who seemed to stop for a panini and coffee. we asked for two plates antipasto (I think antipasti is singular and antipasto is plural, but could be wrong) and beer. the friendly owner then served two huge tellers of sorted meats and cheese, some delicious focaccia brot and two species of olive oil. for about 15 euro. we enjoyed the place so much that we went to lunch there for at least three days of the holiday of our week. we would have gone to eat, but they close at 19 o'clock. I really think this place should be on travel advisors so that it can be found by other travelers.
