Loerdo was a strange experience. The place felt more like a bar than a restaurant. When we came in, there were no personnel to welcome us and zero customers. The lights were turned low and the music was loud. A host came out of the back and let us know we can sit somewhere. She turned the music for us so we could hear each other. We ordered and the food was delivered quite quickly to our table. My husband had the unnoticed Carne Asada. I had the chicken quesadilla. The taste was fair. There was a lot of food in place, but it still wasn't on the crazy prices of each plate. The funnel for me was that they didn't serve chips and salsa while you waited for your food. Which Mexican restaurant does not serve chips and salsa?
I ordered enchiladas, nachos, and a burrito. Everything was delicious! I just wish they offered chips and salsa like other Mexican restaurants do.
For our main courses, my friend chose the Camerones Del Rio, which featured grilled shrimp on a bed of fresh cucumbers, and I opted for the Camerones de la Crema. After placing our order, we played a round of 8-ball. It was an intense game; initially, I had high hopes of winning, but things took a turn when I accidentally scratched on the 8 ball. However, once our food arrived, the loss was made more bearable because the meal was simply fantastic. The food was delicious and incredibly satisfying, especially considering this local family business has persevered through the challenges of the pandemic. Unlike many other restaurants, they truly know how to cook, and I just love it here. This was my second visit, and while I had considered ordering enchiladas again, I couldn't resist the shrimp in cream sauce when I saw it on the menu. And let me tell you, the shrimp was just mouthwatering—fresh and full of flavor. The prices are reasonable, the service outstanding, and the music and entertainment are excellent. Plus, it's a warm and inviting atmosphere, conveniently located near the national port. If you're not heading to the national port, I highly recommend stopping by Laredo's, which is just off the road. It's a safe option and definitely worth the short detour. Support our local businesses and enjoy some great food!
I had a craving for nachos today and decided to check out a local spot. I tried calling ahead, but after being put on hold for 10 minutes, I ended up getting a busy signal when I tried to call back. Undeterred by the phone situation, I drove over, and I’m so glad I did! The food was delicious and had a wonderfully authentic taste. It was definitely worth the drive, although I hope my next phone experience is better. One suggestion: they should include sour cream in the bag along with their green salsa/sauce.
