Stopped in Pierre on our way from CO to MN, and picked this place on a whim for a lateish dinner. Maybe the best steak I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Local beef, great sear and perfect cook, reasonably priced and portioned. Asked for fries but got mashed potatoes instead, not mad about it because they were also very good. AN OASIS IN A FOOD DESERT! I was in Pierre three weeks for work. Pierre unfortunately has poor healthy food choices, it's perplexing that this is a capital city and restaurant selection is horrible. Luckily I found Drifters on my third day, because their food is amazing. They have varied options from classic American such as steaks, chops and ribs, but they also have Asian and Indian food options. The restaurant is new, well kept and clean, the staff were friendly and attentive. They have a great view of the river. I went here 6 times because it was so good. I live in Vegas, where we have some of the best restaurants in the US and Drifters could compete in Vegas in my opinion. My favorite dish was the Vegetarian Curry with Chicken added, fantastic!!! Look no further, Drifters is the spot in Pierre!!
