St. George Cantina - Florida Panhandle

We went to the cantina to pick up some sides for our Taco Tuesday meal at our beach house. The wait was long, but the bartender talked to us and helped us get what we needed as quickly as possible. My husband and I went back later in the evening, when things had slowed down, for drinks and the bartender was super appreciative that we'd returned. We had a great conversation with her and our drinks were fantastic. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is because the wait was super long, so don't go if you're in a hurry. But this was a fun place to hang out and enjoy good conversation!!

We went as a party of 9 (4 adults and 5 kiddos . We expected the wait to be long (post-covid...we are all understanding . When we were seated, the bar manager started as our server then explained that Jordan would be our server once the dinner rush began and the bar got busier. Jordan was so attentive! He was super friendly, polite, efficient, sharp...we had a complicated split tab and he nailed it! The food didn’t take nearly as long as we expected and it was great. No kids menu but they have several options for kiddos and/or picky eaters. You could tel everyone was pitching in (bussing tables, running food, serving, etc. and seeing an establishment work together as a team was very refreshing. We’ll definitely be be back!

The live music was quite enjoyable. I ordered the nacho fries, and they were fantastic. My friends also had a great time and were pleased with their meals. I rated it 4 stars for a couple of reasons: my friend's order and my dinner were both left forgotten at the window, and cold tacos aren’t very appealing. Since my tacos were fish, it made the situation even less appetizing. There was one bartender who appeared to be somewhat unfriendly towards her colleagues, wearing a noticeably grumpy expression. I mention this because it was such a striking contrast to the rest of the staff, and it seemed like her demeanor was adding unnecessary stress to the team. However, my bartender was excellent despite those negatives. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in St. George Island.

This restaurant was a standout experience during our trip! The reviews definitely need to reflect how great it was. Our waitress was the only one on duty, yet she was incredibly friendly and attentive. She made us feel welcome, and the food was fantastic. I would definitely return to this place, which is not something I can say for every restaurant in town.

The food and drinks were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend trying the nacho fries, shrimp tacos, and a skinny margarita. We sat at the bar and received excellent service from Kayla. Thank you, Kayla, for a fantastic experience! We look forward to coming back to see you soon!
