Britannia Inn - Flintshire

When our starters arrived, the salt and pepper chicken turned out to be 4 chicken goujons with some peppers and onions, lacking the freshness one would expect. The other starters were decent. The main courses arrived, and although the pie had tasty pastry, it was clearly a processed one rather than homemade. The gammon my friend ordered did not come with the sauce despite her request, as the waitress claimed it was for a different dish. My husband's scampi and chips were basic, similar to a dish you would find at a chain pub, while a friend's steak was overwhelmed by the taste of rosemary. While the dishes were not inedible, they did not meet the standards expected for the price we paid. The service was lackluster, with poor communication between kitchen and bar staff regarding available dishes. A better explanation of the substitutions and charges would have been appreciated. Many establishments would have waived the extra fee given the mix-up in our order. Ultimately, as a group of friends who enjoy dining out and exploring new eateries, we were disappointed with the overall experience at this restaurant.

I made a reservation for tonight as we couldn't get a table last weekend - it was completely booked. We had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent. It was nice to see the restaurant so busy.

Fantastic menu here at the Brit, im a vegetarian and there is a great selection of food, tonight i had the homemade cheese pie it was delicious! I quite often bring family and friends to the Brit for tea, and we are always welcomed by the brilliant staff here and of course the gorgoeus food. Dog friendly pub, with treats on the bar for your four legged friends. Looking forward to seeing the hot tubs at the back of the rooms to let, there are 2 rooms in total. Well done Sarah and team for all your hard work, the place is always booming!!

Iv said it before and il say it again, we are so so lucky to have this pub as our local, we have come this evening for food both having the curry of the day which was lamb rogan Josh, WOW!! Absolutely incredible, all meals we have had here have been 10/10. Hearty home cooked meals, we always leave satisfied We have lived in Pentre Halkyn for just over 4 years, the pub has had several owners, but since Sarah took over earlier in the year, we have to say she’s turned the place around for the better! We love coming here! Sarah runs the pub but also is the sole chef ‍ fantastic cook! Big shout out to Sarah and her team for creating such a warm friendly environment for all! X

Over the the years this lovely countryside pub has been a regular place for my family to celebrate special occasions, impromptu meals out and a go to for the odd pint. My husband and I decided to have an evening meal last Saturday, for the first time ever we were very disappointed. I had curry of the day which was really watery... I 've had better £1 frozen bargain meals... Sided with chips that I 'm quite sure had been served 3 times previous... My husbands pie described on the menu as 'buttery melt in your mouth pastry ' was like old Rhinos skin that had basked for hours in a sandy desert, disgusting. I 'm so so disappointed and can honestly say my family won 't be returning for any special occasions in the near future. The staff were lovely that 's why I 've gave this review 2 stars and not 1.
