Carmen Tacos - Finleyville

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and I want to be honest in my review. First off, they were out of brisket and Barbacoa. I ordered chips and salsa and queso, but the salsa was just tomatoes and onions in water and the queso was mediocre. The tacos lacked flavor and only had a few strands of blanched cabbage and cheese on them. While we love Mexican food, we will not be returning to this restaurant. I apologize for being blunt, but I wanted to share my honest experience.

The tacos here are excellent and definitely not your typical chain restaurant fare. The beef barbacoa is outstanding and a must-try. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't regret it.

I went here this past Saturday with my sister for dinner I have heard great things about this restaurant and the food. The first thing I'd like to say is that the service was exceptional very quick and efficient. I ordered a house margarita it was ok. The margarita glass was filled with too much ice and I feel like when the server poured my drink out there was still some left in the shaker because there was too much ice in my glass. I ordered chips and queso you don't receive salsa and chips automatically. I ordered the 3 taco plate I got two Barbaco tacos and one chicken taco and three sauces with them. The barbaco tacos were delicious I loved them the chicken taco however was super bland and slightly watery it didn't seem like the chicken was seasoned at all. I wasn't super impressed but if I'm in the area I may give this place another shot.

I recently tried the taco combo plate at this restaurant and it was the best I've ever had. The wait staff was very helpful and gave me some suggestions while I was deciding what to order. The restaurant is currently working on improving its appearance and signage. I had a chance to speak with the owner while he was grilling brisket, and he was a nice and friendly person. I definitely recommend giving this place a try, it's worth the trip! - Dennis from Jefferson Hills

I gave it one star for the margarita which was exceptional. The tacos were bland...slightly flavored meat with a few strands of cabbage. Sauces were bland and came out of their container in a lump. The quesadilla I ordered was with 'no sauce ' however there was a spread of sour cream or something. Hint: nachos should have something on them. Our two orders amounted to a box of plain chips with a container of salsa. This should be described as chips and salsa not nachos. We try and support local businesses but this was disgraceful.
