Known for years by Sydney Residents is the Red Rooster line, and the social economic differences both East and West of the line (Natassia Chrysanthos and Ann Ding explain it best here). While the West have been graced with the age old El Jannah, it's only fair that the North has access to incredible chicken.
Chargrill Charlie’s can be furiously popular during the evenings for takeaway. At any given time, there are dozens upon dozens of whole chickens spit roasting in the commercial ovens. The sight and aroma of this perfectly advertises the Chargrill Charlie’s ethos; fresh and wholesome homemade food. Burnished roast chicken is not the only drawcard yet that alone is a serious magnet for most.
We came here for lunch as it was super busy and there was a long queue inside. We ordered the half chicken with three sides- creamy potatoes, fries and sweet potato. All of this for just $26-$27 which was more than enough to feed two adults. The chicken itself was quite delicious, juicy on the outside but the breast part was a little dry. It didn’t help that we were given no sauce with the chicken (nandos gives free sauce). The fries were really well seasoned and crunchy. The potatoes and sweet potato were also delicious.
Delicious food with a wide variety to choose from and very well priced. Salads are delicious especially the Poke. The chicken curry was outstanding, a huge must !! Good for eating in or taking home, as you are getting a wholesome meal. Highly recommended!
Absolutely love Chargrill Charlie's!! They never ever disappoint and would happily eat my way through everything they offer (I basically did with this spread). A very special chicken shop that ain't like any other for sure.
