I noticed a man in a white polo shirt which i assume was the boss, who although he was lovely with us, there are no words that come to mind when describing his behaviour towards his staff and the way he spoke to them, who were very young in age.
Food was excellent gastronomy. Service was prompt; staff were super nice. Decor was sophisticated with a rustic feel to it. I had the artichoke to start and a delicately cooked piece of veal with a provencal sauce on a bed of spinach with roasted fingerling potatoes. Bread and wine were excellent. Portions were just right. No dessert. Will go again.
Our hosts in the charming village of Eygalières suggested we have dinner here. This was great advice. Our family group of 8 to 10 people ate here on two evenings on their delightful terrace. The young lady who served drinks delivered superb aperol spritz’s (using champagne as the base) to our table. Our waiter was hilarious and accommodating, spoke perfect English, and recounted some of the history of the area. I regret that I did not get his name, or a photo! The meals were delicious, and beautifully presented. Our choices included the risotto, a very nice sea bass, and my choice, my absolute favorite- mussels in coconut milk and yellow curry! Yum. The wines were very good, and not too pricey. This was, by all measures, the best restaurant we experienced during our two weeks in Provence.
What a lovely surprise this gem is. From Fred's fabulous service to the chef's decadent creations, you're sure to love it.
Bistrot L'Aubergine is a must visit restaurant. You sit out in a courtyard in the open air and are served delicious food in the coolest of settings. Highly recommended - a special place.
