The Sunken Monkey Hotel - ERINA

Under new management and so so good. The new owners are making a big effort to create something special. We dined at the wine locker restaurant where the food and service were excellent. Our waitress Chantal was attentive, friendly, and very proud of the venue. Looking forward to attending one of the Sunday wine sips in the outside area by the river.

Came across this pub a bit unexpectedly on the Central Coast Highway at Erina. Attractive building sitting beside Erina Creek with outdoor eating area. Food was excellent along with friendly staff. No real bargain price lunch specials though.

Quality food, really helpful, friendly service and normal price range. It's modern and I'll be back again.

Shared the Portuguese peri-peri marinated chicken pizza. Just enough for three for a light lunch. Was really juicy with fresh cherry tomatoes, oregano, mozzarella and a creamy aioli. Would have given it 5 stars but thin crust was a little limp.

This was our first visit to SM and it didn't disappoint. The decor was fresh and inviting, the beer was cold, like as in really **** cold - just as a good beer should be - and the food was superb. We had the cheeseburger which was a good staple, but slightly usurped by the pulled pork brisket burger special which was scrumptious. The linguine had a generous serving of prawns and clams and the steak was cooked to perfection. But the absolute stand out? The chips! They were everything a great chip should be - so often sought but hard to find.Prices were reasonable given the quality of the food but the one thing that I thought was complete BS was the 2% surcharge for anything other than cash. What's that about SM? So be warned - take cash with you!
