Texas Roadhouse - El Cajon

Our waitress, Rebecca, was fantastic! She was very friendly and remarkably attentive, even amidst the crowd. She took our order quickly, and our appetizers arrived in less than 10 minutes. Shortly after, our main dishes were served. The burgers we ordered were incredible! We requested them medium, and they came out just right—juicy and not dry at all. Plus, the bread basket was refilled for free upon request, which was a nice touch. We also appreciated the charming country theme and the music playing in the background. It was entertaining when a song played and some of the servers danced in the aisles—definitely added to the fun atmosphere with great vibes all around from the staff. We’ll definitely return, even if we have to wait again. A big thank you to Rebecca for making our first experience so enjoyable!

I checked in online, and the reservation indicated a 40-minute wait. However, I arrived after 52 minutes only to be informed by the waitress that it would be an additional 45-minute wait, specifically at 7:23 PM. It felt as though she was aware that my seating time was precisely 7:23 PM. I'm confused as to why the website didn't clearly state that I would be waiting for 2 hours. If I had known, I would have chosen to wait at home for longer instead of sitting outside for nearly an extra hour. Honestly, I would have preferred going to Black Angus. The wait was not worth it.

The food is fantastic, but the service leaves much to be desired. The hostess was quite rude. We received a text saying our table was ready, and I personally checked us in. The hostess instructed us to wait by the steak area, promising someone would call us. However, after waiting 15 minutes without anyone contacting us, we watched as five larger groups were seated before us, while we were just a party of three. I approached the hostess to address the situation, and she dismissively told me that no one had checked in with her. I then explained that I had checked in personally and that she was the one who told us to wait. She seemed taken aback and didn’t know how to respond. Ultimately, I decided to leave. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but it’s unfortunately declining. There needs to be significant improvement in cleanliness and the organization of seating parties.

I'm going to start with the service.... Absolutely perfect. I wish I could remember her name to give her a shout out. Fast friendly and attentive. Love that manager swings by the table to see how things are also. Food was great. Had the steak bites or medallions.... Anyways whatever it was it was really yummy.I always enjoy my visits.

I had been looking forward to trying this place out for awhile and stopped by for a weekend dinner! The wait was almost exactly 80 minutes to my surprise, which is what we were quoted. We were seated and served their famous bread and sweet butter right away. The bread was nothing short of amazing, but the plates we were given were dirty and had food stuck to them. I went ahead and ordered their sweet tea, top sirloin, and mashed potatoes. The sweet tea had a weak tea flavor, and my medium steak was overcooked and dry. Hayden and Anabel were great in making sure to replace the overcooked steak. The mashed potatoes were heavenly though, which was one of the highlights for me. Overall, the pros were the fun ambiance, friendly service, bread, and mashed potatoes. The cons were the ridiculously long wait, dirty plates, and overcooked steak. I would still recommend trying them out once for the novelty or maybe for a birthday since they do make it fun. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program in advance for a coupon for a free entree.
