I'm a burger fanatic! I've been to most of the burger spots in Edmonton. Heard some really good things about Backstairs, and finally decided to check it out. I had no idea what I'd been missing. I will say, I wasn't a fan of the service, and I will dock them points. We were greeted and seated promptly, and the host just left us. Never asked if we'd been there before, or told us how the ordering system worked. I also wasn't a fan of the paying before you got the food. At this price point, I'd expect to pay after the meal, like ahh other dine in establishment. Onto the food review. First off; presentation. Our burgers came disassembled, with the top bun with sauce beside the bottom bun with the remainder of the burger toppings. I prefer that method. Secondly: taste. I took my first bite, and I was blown away by how incredible it tasted. The burger itself had a great meat flavour, albeit it was a bit dry, next time I'll order it medium rare, instead of medium well. I compare this burger to Woodshed, which is my all time favourite burger in Edmonton. We also ordered a side of their Crack Fries. Let me say, these were the best fries I've ever had. The fries were perfectly crispy, tithe y had a spicy cheese sauce and sour cream, and even with all the sauces, the fries held their crispiness throughout the duration of our meal. They never got soggy. They were amazing! I'd go back and order just these! Backstairs, you did a great job, but the host (I get it's not your fault) but the host needs to figure out the hosting aspect of his job.
What an amazing experience the food is so delicious and open kitchen so you get to watch the show for the most part a 1 man show. I have seen others work with him here and there but from what I see it's a 1 man show. The full menu is so creative every time I come I have to try something new and always have a new favorite. The staff in the front are great as well but man the flavors that come out of BackstairsBurger is mouth watering. If I could give 10 stars I would.
OG burger all the way loved it!!!Fries lightly pickled so delish.Yum will be back.Like their ordering system very cool.
First things first I really appreciate the 105st food collective and like how they have a spot that’s accessible for pick up and delivery. My experience there was really welcoming where a nice guy with a beard offered me a water or coffee while I waited to pick up my food. He even cleared the snow on the walkway and opened the door. Anyways to the food I was curious as to their offerings as the IG and the creativity of their menu looked irresistible. I’ve been waiting for a great burger spot to open. IMO the best burger spot I’ve been too was in new Orleans at a place called Port of Call which served burgers that appeared to be grilled over charcoals and were delicious and smoky; and naturally as I live in Alberta I wonder why we never had a place on that level so naturally I get excited over burger joints which brings me here. Over the course of the week I tried the OG burger, the galapeno, the general, and the professor. Out of the beef burgers they are smash patty style out of the ones I’ve tried I’d have to say the professor was my fave my girlfriend ate the pork belly piece on it tho before I could get into it and she said it was delicious I really want to try the skull burger and the frisky brisket next. The general is in a league of its own as far as chicken burgers go and I absolutely loved it. However the galapeno is my absolute fave as the Doritos and chilli along with the nacho cheese infused smokie flipped the script on hot dogs.I fell asleep like 5 mins after. I’m looking to try their twist on the philly cheese such as the Seoul man And the Italian stallion. The crack fries are aptly named. The coffee crisp shake is also as advertised. Kudos to them, I appreciate the concept and their passion for their food. I will be back to try the rest.
