The owner here is a great guy who willingly talked to us for ages about all and sundry. We bought a couple of bottles of wine from him too! Their speciality is the Pinot Noir which I think tastes great! :-)
I organised a surprise birthday lunch for my wife. We were met by the enthusiastic hosts who went along with the tasting delay until the rest of the family turned up. The food was good but it seemed that the owners were using family to serve and questions about "which dish is this' couldn't be answered correctly. The beef cheek croquettes went cold because we were told they were the Paella balls so the wife and the daughter thought they were still waiting for their meal. Unfortunately where there were two or more of the same dish ordered the meals got lumped together. One example was the Waygu beef sliders - two separate orders came on a long plate, no salad or chips, with no explaination and served in front of one person. When we asked the main waitress why this was happening she said the meals were made to share. If this was the only way they serve lunch we wouldn't have ordered 1 main each. After the confusion one daughter didn't get her meal and the Paella balls didn't appear. What we did get was nice and I will try the restaurant again but maybe with less people
Recommended to us, so we dropped in for bite of lunch. A wonderful welcome, enthusiastic hosts who recently took over the business. Knowledgeable about his wines and his new "pink" cider - try it, absolutely delicious! Still some rough edges to be smoothed out on the restaurant side but the chef is amazing, our food was excellent, it's more about getting the presentation and service right to make this a real winner in my view - however, 10/10 for effort and friendliness. All the ingredients are there, just a bit of polish here and there will make this a great place to dine.
When greeted by placid farm dogs, they know that they will meet friendly people. and this is certainly the fall in lost lakes. the cellar door decor is a seventy farm feeling ready with workers and ready to offer them tasting. I really enjoyed the sparkling and the pemberton red. there are also jams, chocolates and jewellery to buy. Lost lakes has a back deck that acts as a restaurant that stayed our large group from 13 to lunch. the eating is what I am American style tapas style with avocado fritters (bit strange as deep fried guacamole that I myself dribbled,) lamb queensadillas, pulled pork slider, marron fishcake, macadamia cracked chicken...read more
