If you're a pet owner, you may want to reconsider dining here. I frequently visited this restaurant with my dog, a small breed. Whenever I made a reservation, I always confirmed whether I could bring my dog, and I was consistently told yes. After visiting over 20 times, I recently inquired about a reservation and was informed by manager Leslie that their policy only permits service animals in the outdoor dining area. I questioned this policy, especially since I have often been allowed to bring my pet and noticed many other dogs dining with their owners outside. Leslie's response was, “This is our restaurant, and we can set the rules as we see fit.” I then asked her if I would be thrown out if I arrived with my dog as I had many times before, to which she affirmed, “Yes. I would advise you to leave and inform you that only service animals are allowed.” I expressed my frustration regarding the inconsistent information provided by her staff. I pointed out that everyone I spoke to on the phone had encouraged me to bring my dog, while she had just denied me entry. I argued that it seemed unfair to be penalized for a lack of consistent communication from the restaurant. Most restaurants in the Bay Area with outdoor seating allow pets. I asked Leslie why her restaurant could not be one of them, especially given that the outdoor area is physically separated from the dining room. Leslie replied, “It's not my concern what other restaurants do. This is our establishment, and we reserve the right to enforce our own rules.” I thanked her for her time and mentioned that I would be sharing my experience on Yelp. Despite being a frequent patron recommending QUATTRO to friends and family, this interaction with the manager – who clearly lacks understanding of service policies – was exceedingly dismissive and rude. It was the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I typically enjoy recommending places in the Bay Area to my friends and family, but after this distressing experience at QUATTRO, I cannot and will not recommend it. I will make sure to communicate this to anyone who asks.
