We were looking for somewhere near our hotel and came across this tapas bar. Although they were very busy with an event for a conference they still found us a table. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the cod croquettes (delicious and moreish) the grilled aubergine, the guacamole (very light and beautifully presented), and the potatas bravas (very nice, but could be a little bit spicier). All washed down with a glass of cava. Not cheap, but well priced for the quartier international. The chocolate desserts are worth trying, but the one with salt, oil and bread is a distinctive taste.
We enjoyed everything that we ordered. The highlights were the deserts, both rich chocolate one a genach/mousse complemented by rock salt and bread, the other a chocolate fritter. The Tapas highlight was a flounder ceviche. The service was excellent. Our water glasses always full. The prices were high or the portions small. The loud backbeat music could/should have been turned down once the place was full. It was hard to hold a conversation. Hard to rationalize a good long meal without being able to hear your companions.
We found out by accident, after leaving the AURA show. The place is super cool, and very beautiful. Delicious but expensive tapas. But they are worth it because the vibe of the place and the good service of the waiters make this place something different in Montreal.
This is a luxury tapas restaurant, far from the bar where you pay with used "toothpicks". The dishes here are prepared individually and served when ready. We shared 12 dishes, including desserts, for two people. The general idea is to separate the meal with breaks to avoid having all of our meals at the same time. We therefore ate in four stages: starters, croquettes, serious portions and desserts. Take your time to appreciate the flavors, look at the dishes at other tables and not hesitate to ask for advice on pairing the dishes with each other or with the wine. The quality of the tapas ranged from very good to exceptional. The starters and desserts were outstanding, the rest were very good with a commendation for the cod nuggets in maple syrup. We received excellent service. The somewhat limited wine list is compensated by a good knowledge of the agreements on the part of the staff. The restaurant located on Notre-Dame Street near the Square Victoria metro station, has a terrace, a two-storey room with modern and bright decoration, with seats at the bar, high tables and normal tables. Our goal being to take our time, we chose a table with comfortable chairs. The restaurant was noisy during the peak period. For a full meal with wine, the bill goes up quickly, but this is the perfect place to have an aperitif with house cocktails and some unusual tapas before a late dinner in Old Montreal. Definitely to be redone.
