Ideal's Sandwich Grocery - Durham

This is the best sandwich in the Triangle. It’s gotten really popular, but still worth the wait.Vegetarian options: The fried eggplant sandwiches are delicious.

Updated score. Customer service hasn't improved much but this time we were able to try the food!

If I could give more stars, I would. This place is UNREAL. Been here 5 times and tried 5 diff sandwiches and I always feel like the previous one can’t be topped…but they always find a way ? Make sure you get there early enough because they do run out of bread occasionally, but you will NOT be disappointed for going out of your way to try Ideals. THANK YOU IDEALS!! Y’all deliver the best sandwiches around

The sandwiches we had were so good I can't wait to go back no matter the wait time it takes. 5 minutes after opening on a Saturday there was a 45 minute long wait to get to the front of the line. Can't recommend their sandwiches enough.

It seems that their menu changes frequently, and I couldn't find the vegan tempeh sandwich on their website, so I decided to email them. To my surprise, they responded in under 90 seconds! They informed me that the sandwich isn't currently available, but they offered to make me something similar with sweet potato puree. Oh my gosh, it was absolutely delicious! It had a lovely sweetness and was very accommodating for everyone. The bookstore just a block away allowed me to sit and enjoy my sandwich there since the deli doesn't have any indoor seating. I highly recommend this place!
