The staff was wonderful; they didn't have the noodles for one of the dishes, but they offered a tasty substitution. Everything we ordered was freshly prepared, and the service was prompt. They even have a lunch deal that looks appealing for our next visit to the city. Overall, it’s a great spot for delicious food at a reasonable price.
Wong Gok is a restaurant I often visit when I want a change from other Chinese eateries. It’s usually quite peaceful, the service is excellent, and the menu offers a great variety of options. However, I’ve noticed that the food can sometimes be lacking in flavor. Additionally, as mentioned by another reviewer, the use of frozen vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots not only feels less authentic but also makes the dishes quite bland. On the plus side, the prices are reasonable, and I truly believe that this place has a lot of potential with a few adjustments.
Incredible! The sweet and sour pork, even without the rice, is absolutely delicious! It's easy for two people to enjoy a meal for under $30.
I've never expected wonderful service from a Chinese restaurant, but I found the service here perfectly fine!<br/ <br/ I went with two friends and the food was great! I loved the soft, smooth skin of the wontons in their wonton soup and the pork and egg foo young dishes were full of flavour without being too oily. The three dishes were more than enough for 3 fairly big eaters and it only cost us roughly $12 each including rice.<br/ <br/ I was happy with the experience and will definitely be back again (I'll update when I've tried their roast duck!
FOOD QUALITY: 4/5<br/ PORTION SIZE: 4/5<br/ SERVICE AMBIENT: 5/5<br/ VALUE FOR MONEY: 4/5<br/ OVERALL: 4/5<br/ <br/ Had chicken with cashew nuts. The vegetables could have been more versatile instead of regular frozen veg broccoli, cauliflower, carrot.<br/ Meat was less firm than what I'm used to but tasted great nonetheless.<br/ <br/ For $8 lunch the portion was big enough, couldn't eat much more than was on my plate and have been reasonably full for quite some time afterwards.<br/ <br/ The staff is friendly and gladly answer questions. The restaurant was empty and more or less quiet.<br/ <br/ Would appreciate a glass or a bottle of water on the side. Otherwise, great value for money.<br/ <br/ Will definitely come for lunch again, also can't wait to try fried banana with ice cream.
