Gaslight - Dunedin

We dined at Gaslight for the first time on Sunday night with a group of four. Fortunately, we made a reservation, as it filled up quickly. The service was outstanding, which surprised me given the negative reviews I've read. We truly couldn’t find any faults. There were only two staff members managing the bar and wait service—Patrick and one other person. They were bustling about but never missed a beat; they smiled throughout and provided excellent menu recommendations. Our meals were fantastic—two of us had pasta, one had steak frites, and one had pork, and we also enjoyed dessert. Two of our group members, who live in Dunedin, had been here before, while the rest of us from Christchurch were newcomers. We will definitely return on our next visit. This restaurant is truly amazing. We hosted my son's wedding reception at Gaslight, and they took care of every detail. The venue was lovely, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was outstanding, with creative options for all dietary needs. They were incredibly helpful throughout the entire event. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return in the future. Thank you, Gaslight!

We dine here last night, it was fairly full, but that didn't matter one bit, the service was swift and staff were very helpful and attentive and had a good knowledge of the menu. The food came out swiftly and was piping hot and was delicious, some restaurant could learn a lot from this place about service and food! We will defiantly be back.

We accidentally discovered one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is fantastic—rustic yet funky. The food is consistently excellent, with a diverse menu. I had the Mediterranean salad as an appetizer, which could easily have been a main dish. For my main course, I enjoyed duck leg confit served with roasted vegetables, while David had the pâté, which was the best we've ever had—delicate and beautifully presented. For his main course, he chose chicken breast with a mushroom sauce. The wait staff were lovely, and we definitely plan to return. The prices are also quite reasonable.
