フィードバックを提供するWe were in Dusseldorf for shopping and it was noon so we thought to have lunch and preferred to go to a Turkish one but when searched on Google, this restaurant was on top, so changed our preference :D.We order Samosa (typical Indian snack, available in every corner of India) and two sprite. The main course we ordered was a Garlic Naan, Dal Makhni and Sahi Paneer. Normally with every dish, you get a bowl of rice enough for one person. But here we got only one bowl. The quantity was okay. The total bill was 34 Euros. Which is quite expensive.
The mango lassi was sour. The vegetable was very bad in taste. Inexperienced waiter who did not know the ingredients mentioned in the menu card.
Decor is good, inviting and interesting. Restaurant was quite empty though on a Saturday evening which was a little strange (we walked past a packed Chinese restaurant a minute or so down the road). We had a set meal (2 people):HALF a popadom each - laughable really but didn't order any more as they had a chewy texture.Soup is very salty - not awful but definitely won't be to most people's taste.Mixed starter is ok, but would benefit from fewer fried veg replaced with a samosa or onion bhaji. We ordered onion bhajis separately which were really good. The lamb kebab in the starter was really good. The mains were quite dull with only a couple of pieces of meat in sauce - really not enough meat in there. I'd prefer a bit of texture - onions and other veg. I suspect it was in there but blended to the point of being indistinguishable. We asked to 'upgrade' to a peshwari naan in the set meal rather than the plain naan - we got both instead (with the extra charge). The dessert was advertised as mango slices with ice cream. It was actually A mango SLICE with ice cream which was a bit disappointing.Overall, I got the feeling that they were trying to squeeze every last penny they could; a couple of very cheap tweaks would have significantly improved the meal and made it feel like it was worth closer to the money we paid.
Visited as the restaurant is situated on route to the centre of Dussledourf.I'll start by saying that the interior is really cute and traditional. The service was friendly too.Decided to have a set meal for 2, which consisted of; mixed starter (I use the words mixed lightly there, for which I'll explain shortly, popadom and pickle, soup, 3 curries, rice & nan and mango and ice cream. All for £30.00pp (approx). I personally think it's a high price, in comparison to previous Indian establishements I've eaten at, however, I love Indian food and we gave it a go.Popadom. Literally 1 snapped in half with 3 tiny pots of sauce. Completely ridiculous. The popadom seemed very dry too.'Mixed starter' - 1 shrunk Lamb kebab (I think), 1 tiny piece of chicken, and quire a few deep fried aubergines. Lots of lettuce though, so that's traditional. Said no Indian person ever.I then asked for onion bhaji as I would have at least expected that with a starter. This came out and to be fair, whilst very salty, it was pretty nice. No somosas, but as it was £4.00 I didn't want to be greedy, as after all, I had mains on the way, right? A short while later, a chicken soup then appears. Again, very salty, but actually quite nice. Albeit, after a few spoons, the salt in the soup was starting the tickle my throat. Next, the mains! 3 similar tasting mains in cheap white bowls. Rice was nice and was served with a yoghurt dip.I asked for peshawari instead of the plain naan, thinking they would just add the extra euro, but instead they brought out a plain naan AND a Peshawari (but without Peshawari) - NOT OKAY, partulary as they charged £3.50 for it.Anyway, during the (long) time waiting in between, I asked for a glass of water. Probably my fault, but they brought a very small and expensive bottle of water and then asked if I'd like a beer. Not a tight person generally, but I've got to admit, I feel slightly miffed at paying £80.00 for 2 people on this food (and a beer each) for the extremely low quality of food and venue/ service. I would not visit again for sure. It actually seems to me like they are cutting costs and ridiculously overcharging.Place was empty, which is no surprise and I suspect that the restuarant has seen better days and is on its way out.If it continues, I would suggest major improvements to the quality of food and maybe reducing a main on the menu and the soup, for a better quality starter and desert as the desert was pathetic. Almost as pathetic as the half of popadom.
The first time was Ok... but the second...The menu:1. Vegetarian starters mix-plate for 2 persons, around 11 eur: -4 small, thick breaded and fried cauliflowers -6 potato slices, thick breaded and fried-2 poor samosa made from cauliflower and potato(when we told the waiter that there was to much potato he just laught)2.Chicken Korma with raisins, cheese and cashews for around 13 eur:- 4 small pieces of chicken with no raisins, cheese or cashews to see. When we told the waiter he took the plate and replaced it for anotherone with almonds instead of cashews... wenn we told him there where no cashews, he laughted again...3.Chicken Tika Masala for around 12 eur:- again... 4 small pieces of chicken in tomato sauce with a bit of spices...4.A glass wine and a LassiAll together = 53,18 eur ... shamefuland when the waiter brought the check with a plate of Mukhwas, he just left the check and took the Mukhwas with him.No more comments
