Bastet - Detmold

We ordered their 7 dishes entree for two, and the stuffed chicken with dates. The first dish took about 45mins to arrive, and the second a further 30min. Well, ok sometimes that happens. But the food was not at all inspiring. For the entree, one of the dishes had a distinct burnt taste,and the one of the 7 that was hot, was only hot on the outside, inside it was stone cold. The rest were uninspiring. Tomato sauce, hummus, tahini, mayo... all tasted like they came out of a jar. For the stuffed chicken, the chicken was ok, a little dry, but ok. But the sauce and the veges were a very confused jumble of somewhat bitter flavours, served with gluggy rice, again bitter from the orange peel, and the same pretty ordinary flat breads we had in the first course. I have to say that this was the worst meal i can remember eating out in a long time.

We never could imagine that a city like Detmold would have a restaurant like this. The food is delicious, especially the hummus and the falafel we had. Service is fast and super nice. I would definitely go back!
