Chuck's - Des Moines

I visited this restaurant about four years ago and gave it a one-star rating then. My parents used to eat here for many years when the original owners were running it. I decided to give it another chance but was disappointed once again. I ordered cavatelli, and the sauce was watery and lacked flavor. The baked potato looked like it had been sitting under a warming light for hours and resembled an overripe black banana. The chicken livers were very dry. The onion rings were good, though. The waitress did take half off one of the dinners, which was appreciated, but they clearly need to hire a better cook. Overall, I'm very disappointed.

It’s such a delight to have Chuck’s open again! The frosty drinks were ice cold and delicious, bringing back plenty of fond memories. I dined in the music room, where a live band was playing. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the music was fantastic! Plus, the staff was efficient and friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Our group heard a lot of great things about this place, unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. The place is very small and the tables are very close together. Our group ordered several appetizers to share. The onion rings were good and the friedmushrooms were the size of plums. There were a couple of us that ordered fettuccine Alfredo for our entrees. It was very blandand full of butter. We added a ton of salt and pepper to add taste along with some parmesan cheese. The chicken was rubberyand ultimately we had to send them back and the waitress took them off our check. A couple of us got pasta dishes that hadmarinara sauce on them. It was very watery and had no flavor and the pasta was under cooked. The highlight of the night was thepizzas that we ordered. If we had to do it over I would have gotten the pizza. After our experience tonight I have no plans toeat here again.

Our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional! Charles, our server, truly cared about our dining experience, the quality of our food, and everything in between. In a nutshell, this place is amazing! Honestly, I wouldn’t choose anywhere else for the best tenderloin or steak! It’s conveniently located just down the street from our home, and it provided us with the best experience we could have hoped for. If you’re in search of great food paired with excellent customer service and wonderful people, you’ve found the right spot. The prices are fantastic, and just to reassure you, their sauce is flavorful and delicious! You really can’t go wrong here. It’s been the best money we've spent at any restaurant so far!

I hadn't been to Chuck's in years, but since our family goes out for dinner every Saturday, we always find it hard to come up with a new place to try. We were reminded of this neighborhood gem, so we decided to stop by last night. Everything we ordered was delicious—the chicken parmesan, shrimp scampi fettuccine, and pizza were all fantastic. The music room was a delightful surprise, and the service from Charles was truly exceptional! We will definitely be returning.
