フィードバックを提供するWe moved to this area and were told this was a great restaurant. Not now, in my opinion. Have been a couple of times in recent months for convenience. Food is ok but inconsistent...ie. the quality of the samosas, mint sauce, naan bread all can vary. Rice is good. Some sauces are just too salty..ie Bhuna, and are all a bit too similar to each other.Recently we were informed after ordering, that they were out of raita because they had been closed for a week...seriously?!There are two supermarkets across the road!! Service can be very very slow when busy..the only waitress we have seen there seems to have to do everything...greet and seat customers, take orders, deliver the food, clear and set tables and all while answering the phone and taking takeaway orders all evening! She is pleasant but overworked. Have never seen a manager/owner there to ask customers "how was your meal?"There is also an unpleasant musty smell like damp carpet? The decor is dated and the whole place could do with a facelift.
I'm not an expert of Indian food by any means. I eat it at least once a week and am fairly adventurous and try someone new from the menu every order. I do know what some dishes are supposed to be like the thali which was advertised in the front window of this restaurant. I've driven by on several times and was finally able to give it a go. What a disappointment. Rather than a variety of and balance of sweet, salty bitter, sour, astringent and spicy I got 3 dark meat curries that looked almost the same on the plate and were in the same flavour category a less than generous serving of rice and a side of roti. And the lamb was overcooked. And one galum jamon on the plate which was pretty good. Where was the variety of balance of flavours? Where was the yoghurt, dal, vegetables, chutney and pickles? Just a few curries on a plate and overpriced at that. Very disappointed to say the least and I'll be looking for a good thali.
Simple order spicy and quick. It was quick and fantastic. Awesome meal. Great people service with S smile
There are several Indian restaurants in Dee Why, plus a Nepalese plus Afghan, not to mention one in nearby Collaroy Plateau. So we are spoiled for choice and as we enjoy Indian food we are determined to try each one.The first plus about the Kingfisher is that parking is easy. Its on Pittwater Road where parking is difficult at the best of times, but there is usually parking on Mooramba Road which runs parallel to Pittwater one block west accessible from May Road, also there is a public parking lot three hour limit off Mooramba less than 2 blocks from Kingfisher. The food is excellent. We started with chilli cheese Naan, which we had never tried and was a good choice. I had beef Vindaloo and my lady Mali Kafta, both being our usual "test" dishes when we try a new Indian restaurant. The Kingfisher offers beef as well as lamb where some Indian restaurants have dropped beef. I ordered it hot as I worked in India and that's how it came, but you can order individual dishes spiced as you like, the same as in most good Indian restaurants. Someone had gone to the trouble to trim fat from the beef. The menu offers 50 different mains plus various entrees and different breads and several varieties of rice. There is a bar but if you BYO the corkage is $4.
We waited two hours for delivery. Two hours ! They didn;t message me to let me know either - i rang up after 90 minutes and he told me the car had broken down. When he arrived at the house he told me the driver was sick - could;t even keep his excuses consistent. And not so much as a free popadom ! Food wasn;t too bad but two hour delivery is a joke.
