My partner and I stopped here on our way to our accommodation for the weekend on a thursday night. And what a perfect place for dinner. It was quiet and the fire was crackling away. Service was a tad slow, but not an issue. The food was very tasty and well priced. I will visit this place again on my next visit to daylesford.
Perhaps I could have used the door on the corner to find my way into Koukla, but somehow I missed it and used the hotel entrance instead. No matter! I was invited to pick a table and very soon had my order taken. Cappuccino to start - and I'd barely ordered it than there it was before me. A couple of spoonfuls of froth later, my fruit toast and Koukla Bircher arrived! The toast came with cinnamon butter and house-made jam, soon to be polished off. And my now empty plate was whisked away. The generous serving of muesli followed half a cup of my coffee, which hasn't got cold while I juggle the phone's testing keyboard. Koukla knows what it's about. Bravo. There's outside seating with a view of the roundabout, plus there's a large garden area, but most folks are snug and warm inside. Now for my second cappuccino...
We attended on a cold Sunday night (6/8/17) and were seated close to the fire. The interior was well done and warm. I was a little nervous as the tables were quite close together, however the wait staff managed this very well. The selection of beers available was perfect and included the Daylesford pale ale and Holgate variaties. We both ordered pizza which was divine! This was followed by the choclate fondant which was decent but not amazing. What got me was the service! Our waiter (a lovely gentleman wearing a neck scarf) greeted us at the door and seated us as per my request (far far away from the door). He was courteous, engaging and friendly throughout the night and did not skip a beat! Give that man a pay rise!Would definitely return, although would probably avoid on a busy Friday/Saturday night due to how close together the tables are.
A group of 12 we got there late and the kitchen was packing up but stayed open for us we had pizza and we all agreed the food was great the staff were very friendly and I will be going back
