Damariscotta River Grill

Server was awesome. Drinks were great. Not so much for the rest. In very small print at the bottom of one side of menu you are going to be charged an extra 3 to pay for having the cook prepare your meal. This is not part of the normal tip. If youprefer grilled onions rather then raw you pay 2 dollars more. If you want cheese...another 2 dollars. Your 18 dollar burger isnow 22 and served with stale potato chips. French onion soup was served luke warm. Salmon was served completely dried out.Hamburger was very dry and appeared to be a frozen one. Paid for bread at $6 and received 2 store bought bread sticks and 4pieces of store bought french bread. Prices are not cheap so you would expect high quality but not what was served. 6 people atthe table and we all agreed we would not be back. It used to be great and we had been here a few years ago but the new ownersapparently don't get it. First time we ever had to pay to have our food cooked. Over the past week we have enjoyed the gustatory delights of the Damariscotta area, with the Damariscotta River Grill being one of our favorites. Our host at our B&B had suggested that we make reservations early: he said that even on a weekday we wouldlikely find the Damariscotta River Grill to be busy. He wasn't kidding: we arrived early (for us) at 5:30, and as we ate moreand more people kept arriving, and with good reason. Our dinners were exquisitely prepared, with a lot of attention to detail.We shared a plate of mussels as an appetizer: perfection! My wife had the duck, and pronounced the risotto about the best she'dever had. I had the scallops that were lightly breaded, and perfectly cooked. Service was impeccable, and waitress wasknowledgeable and informative. There is plenty of parking within a short walk. Damariscotta River Grill is clean and inviting,a most pleasant atmosphere for a truly memorable dining experience.

Had a gift certificate and if we didn't we might have just walked past this place. Our first time there was fabulous around 2021 around the end of the pandemic. They were attentive and food was delicious. But this time everything was so-so for themoney.

Great food and the Honey Badger cocktail was the best cocktail I've ever had.

Great food from the restaurant and prep kitchen! We are up every year and now make it part of our routine to purchase frozen items from the prep kitchen to enjoy at our summer house. Enjoy dining at the restaurant too- you can't beat the Thai chickenwrap!
