Chatka Family Restaurant - Creston

Our family of 6 had such a wonderful experience at Chatka's recently; everything from the friendly staff (and presumably the owner) to the awesome homemade food. They were very attentive to the infant eating with us and they made us feel right at home. The food was served promptly and everything from our appetizers to entrees were healthy portions of high quality food. On top of the excellent service the food we tried was something I highly recommend to anyone travelling through Creston. Well worth the stop!

As an Eastern European descendant I like to try other people's pierogies and cabbage rolls. This place has got the touch. The pierogies were so tender and the potato cheese filling was perfect. It tasted just like the filling my parents made. The cabbage roll had a wonderful flavourful too, though I like rice only rolls. It was absolutely amazing food. The restaurant was exceptionally clean, just like baba kept her house. Please stop here. You will have a nice ethnic food experience.

Walking into the restaurant felt like walking into a church kitchen or someone’s home. Plain but very clean. Several local families were having supper and were warmly greeted by the young lady at the till. Menus are on the table under glass. Grab a table,...choose your meal then back to the till to order. When your food is ready, back to the table beside the till to pick it up. Not sure if this is normal or due to COVID. A few things on the menu were sold out, again not sure if due to COVID or if this happens on a regular basis. We decided to share the Mizeria(cucumber salad) and the Polish plate pierogies of your choice, slices of pan fried ham sausage, large cabbage roll and a scoop full of hunters stew. So good!!! I loved the cucumber salad so much, I googled a recipe so I can make it at home. Dessert choices were tiramisu or rice pudding. Best rice pudding ever! Service was quite slow as there was only one cook in the kitchen preparing each order individually but it was well worth the wait. What a nice change from the usual restaurant meals.

Each time we travel from Alberta to BC, regardless of final destination, we plan our trip to ensure we have either lunch or dinner at Chatka. We love it! Their food is as authentic as you can get it, the service great and the banter...and easy conversation along with the great packaging of take home items is much appreciated.
