Al Carrobbio - CREMONA

Set in the Lombardy countryside just 10 min away from neighbor city Cremona, this charming place offers not only a vast and delicious menu but also outstanding quality since almost all the ingredients come from their own orchard. The decoration is classic italian and the service is always excellent. They have a whole vegetarian menu as well.

We were staying in the associated farmouse hotel for a couple of nights and had no fixed plans about where to eat but once we saw the lovely dining room and picked up on the relaxed vibe and the bounteous market garden next door we decided to stay on site for dinner for the first night and the results meant that there was no question that we would do the same the following evening. Interesting menu (and specials) and eclectic wine list, with an emphasis on fresh produce from just around the corner, and we enjoyed every mouthful. We never actually ate in the dining room as the covered terrace was available and it was still very warm, even in mid September. Staff were friendly and interested and keen to show off their produce, the food was a cut above the standard fare both in imagination and quality/ Yummy, twice over and great value for money.

Food was special. Beautiful setting and rooms. Nice house made breads, charcuterie and unusual pastas. The apricot jam tart was just ok.
