Wayfarer (the) - Costa Mesa

I visited the restaurant on Wednesday and tried the special of the day, the Rib-Platter. It was delicious and the service was excellent. They also have 2 billiard tables and a live band.

Nice location. This small, cozy bar has a truly authentic atmosphere. However, during my last visit, it was uncomfortably hot and the noise level was overwhelming. It was not a pleasant experience.

What a strange night. I never went to a bar where they interrupt your evening and demand that you pay money to stay. We have the bar at 8:45. No cover at the door (it is early, understandable). I have bought a few rounds of drinks and talked to other customers when two of the bar employees go up with a clipboard and let us know that if we plan on the stay, we need to pay a cover. Otherwise we'll be kicked out at 9:30. In what world do you want money from people already in your bar? Each Bar/Club/Allee in OC would start a cover for new arrivals at 10 a.m. Even if they had charged a lid at the door from the beginning, we would have paid. Making the rounds to the already paying customers in your bar is strange and kills any environment you hoped. We're not gonna be back and tell everyone it's doing the same. It is also a shame, the ambience and the people are great.

Came here on a Saturday night. Like no one. It was empty. Bartender (Cack, literally 3 words to him) did not come out of me and my friends for any reason, although we were totally respectful and calm. I was totally respectful of her requests to talk to me and they wouldn't talk to me. The Bouncer had no idea why we were kicked out, called me another?f? when I wanted to discuss the problem. Don't come here. Edit: Uncanny that I can write this while ?drunk? But the bartender can't explain why he threw me out. Strange.

Did not expect them to turn me away, especially since nowhere on their website did they say they require ID to enter(let alone physical ID). Drive 40 minutes to support a friend in a band, wasn?t even planning on drinking. Disappointing to say the least. I was able to go next door and buy beer without an ID though! Needless to say I won?t be coming back here nor will I recommend this place.
