Maiz Cocina - Corona

I visited this restaurant for the first time with a friend, and we had a wonderful experience. Our server was fantastic—very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the Pork Belly Bites as an appetizer, which we enjoyed (sorry, I forgot to take a picture!). We also loved the mini Margaritas; they were tasty and refreshing. The Seafood Enchiladas were delicious and served hot, with a perfect sauce that wasn't too spicy. There’s a small outdoor patio on the side and front of the restaurant. My friend mentioned that the restroom was clean and tidy, and the indoor dining area was nice as well. We’ll definitely come back to try the breakfast!

As for the food, it was decent but didn’t quite meet my expectations. I ordered a shrimp taco and a NY strip steak taco. They were good, but both could have used more seasoning, and the corn tortillas were quite thick, falling apart mid-bite. We also tried the chorizo fundido, but it honestly resembled an American cheese dip with little to no chorizo in it. My husband had a carnitas taco that was overly greasy, while his steak taco was just okay. The highlight of our meal was definitely the churros! They were a delightful trio of caramel-stuffed churros served with vanilla ice cream and topped with a cinnamon-sugar mousse.

We started with the shrimp enchiladas, which were delicious and accompanied by an amazing sauce. The carnitas were also very tasty. I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. The steak was excellent, but I wasn’t a fan of the shredded chicken, as I found its presentation and texture unappealing. However, that shouldn't stop anyone from choosing Maiz Cocina. Overall, it was a great experience!

This is located a little off the beaten path but truly a fun place for dinner. If you think you will be ordering traditional Mexican Food, think again. The food and presentation is unique, fun and special. It is a great small business to support with truly tasty cuisine. The restaurant is small, so you will get great service. I give this thumbs up for date night!

The food was amazing... filled with so much flavor. The service was warm and friendly. We will be returning regularly. Really enjoyed it
