The Springer Spaniel

To be honest we only went in the first time because it was close to where we were staying and did food all day. Subsequently we ate the three days in a row. The food was top-notch. Freshly cooked to a high standard. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely time. Have recommended to family and friends.

Lovely setting, beautifully decorated. Amazing food that was to a brilliant standard !! however there was one particular member of staff that completely ruined our evening that was supposed to be for my great nans birthday. This young gentleman was ignorant and clearly cared more about having a laugh with his colleagues than the standard of service we were expecting. He also stunk of cigarette smoke. Such a shame as everything else was to a great standard and we’d heard lovely things about this place.

We have eaten here four times. Each time the food has been very good and the waiting staff are exemplary in their customer-facing role: efficient with just the right amount of humour, when called for. However, on more than one occasion we have found the attitude of the female manager markedly different. Today, we found her bristly, matter-of-fact and indifferent to our requests and superior in her demeanour. Also, it is unsatisfactory to bring food out on wooden cutting boards. It is not hygienic and the food falls off the board and onto the table. In every other respect we have been delighted with the setting, decor, service and prices.

Went to The Springer Spaniel for Sunday Lunch whilst on a trip to Launceston. Well what a little find this was. Really lovely pub, great atmosphere, lovely friendly staff and fantastic food. Very reasonably priced too. Will definitely be going again to sample week day menu before we leave. Nice that you can also take in the dog who was very warmly welcomed! Highly recommend.

There were lots of good reviews in the cottage visitors book so we thought we'd give it a go and do glad we did.We hadn't booked but they fitted us in about an hour after we first called.When we got seared we were told there was a bit of a delay due to people arriving late which we were OK with.We ordered our food,I ordered whitebait starter plus the rump steak with peppercorn sauce,my wife and her mum had sausage and mash.The whitebait were lovely and a lot bigger than usual.My steak was perfect, well cooked medium rare with fries onion rings and tomato it was all very tasty as was the peppercorn sauce.My wife and her mum loved their meals,very tasty sausage and smooth buttery mash with well cooked broccoli .All colleagues we dealt with were pleasant,professional and very chatty.With a couple of beers and a bottle of pinot the bill was £96 which was good value for the quality of the produce used in the meal.I would highly recommend.
