The staff here are very knowledgeable, particularly when it comes to vegan options. If they say "all vegan," you can trust that they know what to do. However, it's worth noting that the baklava is made with vegan butter but does contain honey.
The falafel brought me a tremendous sense of happiness on a particularly stressful day. I also inquired with the server about the dairy content in the menu items, and they were very helpful in identifying which dishes were vegan and vegetarian. While the service was definitely on the slower side, the restaurant was quite busy, and the wait was absolutely worth it.
I really love The Heart of Jerusalem, especially their falafel. My only complaint is that they include yogurt in the baba ganoush, which makes it not vegan. Additionally, the gluten-free options could use some improvement.
I wasn't too hungry when we went, but I still thought it was very good. Fresh falafel, tasty pita bread and hummus. The baba ghanoush is great along with the dolmas. All around a great place with cozy interior and kind staff.
