Really nice place to visit. A good balance of garden and home with the house feeling like we’d stepped into a time machine into an old townhouse which I suppose we had! We hadn’t visited anywhere like this before and enjoyed the self guided walk around.
As a property managed by the National Trust, the house and its gardens are open for exploration, allowing guests to discover ten remarkable locations throughout the home. There are interactive experiences scattered around the interior, where both children and adults can dress up and play with wooden toys that belonged to William and his siblings in their daily lives. The first floor of the house also features an exhibition space that regularly showcases themes related to nature, landscape, or literature. In the walled garden at the back of the house, visitors can admire a variety of beautifully colored plants, along with picturesque views of the river. Overall, Wordsworth House and Garden offers much more than what meets the eye from the roadside, providing a fascinating insight into the life of William Wordsworth.
I had a very interesting visit with a free guided tour. The place is highly interactive and features a beautiful garden. There's plenty to do and see!
Well set out so you get a real feel of how the house would have looked. The gardens are not big but they looked beautiful. Staff very polite and friendly x
