Inside, I waited while the cashier was off somewhere else. When she finally showed, there was no “sorry for your wait” or “thank you” for spending too much of your hard-earned money to support my hourly wage. Another, in a long line of places where customer appreciation is only a memory. The other truck stops are usually full, and now we know why. My recommendation? Go somewhere else
Cloverdale truck plaza deserves a few gold stars , bathrooms new, new showers, new restaurant, great food and great service
Free parking, good shower with fresh towels and rag.The restrooms are bad, but not because of management or them being nasty. The drivers come in here and treat it like a dump. Came in an someone didn't even have the decency to flush. Leaving toilet paper on the floor. Do better fellow drivers
I took a chance that this would be an acceptable place for a 34hr reset based on the following. Others have remarked on the quality of food as being unsatisfactory. So, I looked nearby, saw the Mexican restaurant had good reviews and figured I'd just get food across the street (turns out the food there was unpleasant as well). Right off the bat, i saw the parking lot, though big, was on a hillside and had been made following the hill contour, leaving everyone who parks here on vertically angled ground, sleeping on a vertical angle- some places the angle is steeper than in other places, and the lot surface is old somewhat broken up asphalt with some significant potholes. Next, there was a line to use the crappers, and the empty crapper was plugged and nasty- I walked out and didn't return for their bathrooms. Asked if they charge for showers- was told $12; if I'm paying $12 for a shower, I expect a clean shower room- it wasn't, the floor definitely needed to be cleaned, as well as the whole floor and some of the walls leading up to the 2nd floor showers; not sure what it was, but there was a slightly repulsive scent in the air heading up to the shower rooms- probably a matter of cleaning the place. After seeing how run down the Cloverdale Travel Plaza is, as well as finding the one restaurant I was counting on to be good only to find out it isn't, I wouldn't risk doing my laundry here and wouldn't recommend doing a 34hr reset here, not with other and better options outside indianapolis and st louis, options which have higher standards for cleanliness and food quality. Oddly enough, the owner posted signs for fees for littering but does not have any dumpsters or trash bins in the parking lot- apparently oblivious to why people left trash laying around. To the owner of Cloverdale Travel Plaza- it's not working out- you need to either up your standards and invest in fixing the problems or take a serious look at selling the truckstop to someone who actually knows what they're doing and knows how to make it work in a way that strengthens rather than weakens the community.
The restaurant had good food and customer service, which is why they got 2 stars, otherwise it would have been 1 star rating. The truck stop portion had the typical items. The truck stop section did not give cash advances though, these people don't understand that is how some owner operators buys fuel and runs their operations. The people who run these smaller places are from overseas (i.e. India) and don't have a clue how a truck stop is supposed to operate.
