And if you had a Moga Tissue, then it 'd me Som Alley-a. I have only been here twice in my life. Once was by accident, and I thought, what a nice little place it is, I wonder why nobody is aware of it. The second time was when CM of Rochester Yelp Breanna brought all the ROC Yelpers (and me) out here for a super duper fun time. Everybody got naked and swing danced (which is a metaphor for unprotected sex) and shared picnic boxes (which is a metaphor for doing drugs). In fact none of this goes on with Yelp, but I have a feeling half of suburban America thinks it does. Especially Liam Neeson. I will find your packed lunch. And I will eat it. Other than the event, I should point out that this space is for anyone and everyone who wants to use it, and is absolutely lovely, especially in the summer. I wouldn 't hang out here in midwinter, but then I wouldn 't jump out of a plane without a parachute, but that doesn 't mean you can 't. One thing: look out for the ants.
This quaint little alley is a hidden gem in the South Wedge. I 've driven by it so many time and never realized it was there. Star Alley is an inviting and colorful little park next to Lux. Somebody put a lot of time into the murals on the building walls and the landscaping. They even have a dispenser of dog waste bags to pick up after your pup! We 've all been there when we realize we never replaced the bag roll that hangs on the leash! Star Alley is open to the public and a perfect place to eat ice cream or take-out from one of the surrounding shops. It was quiet and serene when I was there around 7pm on a Friday night. There are a few picnic tables to relax at and seems to be a good place to stop and chat with a friend.
Star Alley is a small park in South Wedge located in-between Lux and Now Zen. It's a wonderful use of an otherwise wasted space. The brick sidewall of Lux serves as the Southern boundary of the park and also as its focal point. There is a colorful art mural on that wall and it is one of many displays of public art in the South Wedge area. It's a great place to just sit and relax while eating a sandwich or ice cream from a local South Wedge establishment. I've also heard that Star Alley serves as the venue for mini-concerts and other events during the summer. It's definitely one of Rochester's little gems.
This little park offers free, live music every Third Thursday during the summers, courtesy of Lux and other South Ave retailers. I have seen several of the bands and they have always been entertaining, some very good, some not my preference. You can learn more by googling South Wedge Sip and Shop.
A sweet little Alley in the South Wedge, There are often concerts here in the warmer months, there are a few trees and some plants as well. A hand full of picnic tables makes this a great place for just hanging out and enjoying the warm weather. There is also a really cool mural along the wall of Lux, the longer you look at it the more details you'll see.
